Will update more once we have more information..... but this is a big deal.
This is a good thing. It acknowledges that Kawasaki is acknowledging there is a problem, and we now need to hope they do a complete fix and not just primary clutch failures. The secondary is probably the cause of most belt failures, and there might even be an air flow issue through the CVT to cool the secondary. Looking at the secondary it’s very different from the other brands. The helix is on the back side and the sheaves have no cooling fins to move air, but also to pull heat out of the sheaves.
I’m hoping for a complete overhaul of the CVT.
Makes you wonder how these cars are really tested. IMO you need the average Joe driving them as they are the ones who find the short comings. Speed UTV was the same way, but that was because their test and preproduction parts were more superior to the production parts subbed out to contract suppliers in Asia.I hope you are right. Would love to see this problem solved once and for all. You would think it would have shown up in testing!!!
You get the primary and secondary? Not yet. Got my TAPP clutches & the cover mod from Evo though…
Well we knew it was coming. Was it identical to the letter I posted? Any more info sent with it?Well I jinxed myself. I received the stop ride notice yesterday in the mail.
Yes, both. Wish the cover was clear to show off the pretty green…You get the primary and secondary?
It was identical to what you posted. You can also go on Kawi's website to check recalls with your VIN and it comes up.Well we knew it was coming. Was it identical to the letter I posted? Any more info sent with it?
Curious to see how the combo works. The green is pretty against the shiny billet clutches.Yes, both. Wish the cover was clear to show off the pretty green…![]()
I doubt they will be fixing vehicles for at least 45-60 more days. Also, they will likely have to do this in stages so the parts can be distributed and dealers are not overwhelmed with repair requests. Not sure how they will triage it, perhaps by VIN, but its likely to be a shit show for some owners.Spoke to a rep at Kawi this morning and no news on when the fix will be available. She said they are working on it. I made sure she documented the blown belts and broken clutch cover on my file so when I take it to the dealer when the fix is available they can address those. Hopefully they will reimburse me for some belts and the cover.
If they could get it done in 60 days that would be impressive. It took Polaris several months and lots of reimbursements to owners when they had the clutch issue.I doubt they will be fixing vehicles for at least 45-60 more days. Agreed, it could be a longwhile. If they could get it done in 60 days that would be impressive. It took Polaris several months and lots of reimbursements to owners when they had the clutch issue.
