We have heard unsubstantiated rumors that the fix for the H2 clutching is going to be a "bandaid" which I had kind of suspected from the beginning, the only way to completely fix the clutching issues with the H2 is a complete redesign of the system which is not going to happen in any acceptable time frame so in order to get the machines back running and allow dealers to start selling again we are going to see some sort of "kit"to get by with until the system can be redesigned, manufactured, and tested and that's going to take until at least the next model year.
The H2 clutch is nothing more than a Ridge primary with what appears to be a forged spider and a KRX secondary, I had these clutches in hand weeks before the H2 was released and I had my doubts from working on hundreds of these clutches that they were not going to hold up, it's disappointing Kawasaki basically used parts they had laying around for the CVT system on what is otherwise an amazing platform and car. Yes, there are other clutching options out there and no, Kawasaki is not going to buy them for you.. so for those of us that want to best performance and most reliable clutching system we are going to have to "pony up" a few more thousand to make the car what it should have been from the factory.
With all that being said let me Segway into this news... KWI Clutching will soon have a complete billet primary and secondary for the H2 which is going to be amazing, this will have the same proven technology as KWIs clutches for the X3 and Polaris machines and have unlimited adjustability on both the primary and secondary, these clutches have already been tested in H2 race cars and are performing awesome with no extreme belt temperatures and are putting the power to the ground, they will also have the ability to run different length belts for your riding style, shorter belt for more top end, a longer belt to allow the secondary to open further and provide lower gearing on the bottom end, belt length plays as big a roll in CVT tuning as weights, and helix settings.
We will be stocking these new KWI clutches and will be running them on our machine.
I really hope I'm wrong about Kawasaki's "band aid fix" and I feel they will eventually get it figured out but if you're like me and want the most from your H2 clutching stay tuned for announcements and testing results for the new KWI setup.
