Ok so I want to talk about the angry chipmunk that sounds off while the engine is not under load. I have purchased an EVP blow off valve thinking that is would improve the decibel or frequency levels. I ride all types of terrain in western Colorado so wide open is not always an option.
Understanding now that compressor surge is the nature of the beast I have looked elsewhere to simmer down that angry little dude. I ran a test where I blocked off the inside of intake. This helped quite a bit. With this knowledge relocating the source of the chirp is the only possible solution as I see it. These are the 3 possible solutions I came up with. I would love to hear what you all come up with.
1 RPM makes an under the fender cold air intake with an S&B filter.
2 Wait for S&B to come out with an under the fender Particle separator. (This is my choice) I have contacted them and they said they need to see more of a demand before designing. If you like this option reach out to them like I have.
3. Wear headsets. I love my Rugged radios and they cut out the sound wonderfully but I dont always want to wear them.
I hope this helps someone as well as I hope S&B gets their $#&% together and designs a particle separator like the MAV R and the PRO R
