If for no other reason than to bring some more traffic and participation in this group I thought I would start a build log of our shop H2..

We picked up our new H2 today, now to get some baseline data then try out out some clutching modifications we have been working on for the last several weeks.
I’m pretty impressed with the low speed engagement in stock form but there is always room for improvement…
Thanks to Sterling, Dylan, and everyone at Elkins Motorsports for getting me in the first one to arrive!

We have been testing the KWI Hyperdrive weights and have improved our 0-60 times from 5.23 to 4.87, the engagement is now lower and very smooth and gets rid of a lot of that hesitation on the bottom end.
It also works very good crawling, I tested it on some steep ground and it easily crawled at low speed in Medium power mode, now to test some other clutch modifications we have been working on to see what we can improve.

Did a little playing around with the H2 today, didn’t do any timed runs today as I just wanted to get a “seat of the pants” feel for it.
Really happy with the results so far, I’m running the KWI Hyperdrive weights with 3 screws in the holes closest to the tip and our over drive spacer links and delrin washer on the factory spring, I tried different lengths and stiffness of springs but the factory spring works best with this setup….

Nice smooth low engagement and the power comes on lower and gets rid of a lot of that initial lag on the bottom, I saw 103 speed wise and it was still climbing but here in WV not a lot of room to run that fast for very long, I was impressed with how smooth and planted the machine felt at high speed.
I’m still sourcing a different belt that will allow us to work on getting some lower gear reduction with secondary modifications but today was just a fun ride 😀

Pretty and Performance!!!!

Playing with different belts and settings, we’re able to get 15% lower reduction and top end just by changing belts and making a couple adjustments…
Really looking forward to some in depth testing on this system

Did some testing with the KWI Clutching setup today and it’s gonna be good news for the rock crawlers!!

Nice smooth low engagement at around 1500 rpm, it can crawl a 25% grade at 1-2 mph.

15% reduction and was still able to hit 96 mph before hitting the limiter!!

But…. We think we can make it even better, even lower engagement!

Stay tuned, the primary is going back to KWI for a couple more modifications and we’ll be doing more testing when we get back from Moab on the 26th.

Oil leak on the H2, might want to check…

After doing some clutch testing yesterday I had a lot of oil in the skid plate and over the engine / transmission, got it all degreased today and removed the clutches and enclosure and found the leak, all 9 of the bolts on the drive pulley shaft cover were loose, not just a little loose but not even finger tight, I torqued them all to spec (13 foot lbs / 156 inch lbs) and the leak seems to be fixed..
Something you may want to check / keep an eye on.

After this thing’s been sitting all winter time to get to work on it!!
A15D winch bumper and 5500lb winch
HMF rear bumper and hitch
Kawi tail box
Kawi A-Arm and Trailing arm guards
Kawi wide fender flares
Kawi light bar
Chase light with turn signals/ backup lights
Kawi glass windshield and wiper kit
Skid plates.
WD street legal kit
And….. THE KWI Clutching billet primary and secondary which we are getting dialed in for crawling… currently at 15% reduction and still able to hit 100 mph, plus super smooth low belt engagement!!

15% clutch reduction and still able to get to 100 mph
The new KWI Clutching Fusion billet primary and secondary are working awesome, super smooth on the bottom end with belt engagement right above idle, you have the ability to run different belt lengths and weight profiles to set up the clutching for slow crawling (which is how we currently have ours set) or wide open desert racing.

Lots more stuff to get installed on the H2….

Evolution Powersports. BRV, charge and recirculation hoses, and catch can.

RPM Powersports. Auxiliary fuel tank.

AIM infrared belt temperature gauge.

Elektric Offroad grill and baja box.

Valor wheels and tires (33” Tangos) I’m currently running 35” Savage XTs on factory wheels which are awesome but want the 33s for higher speed hard pack and on road riding.

Tusk wing vents (highly modified to fit)

And of coarse the KWI Clutching Fusion Primary and Secondary which have been working awesome for the last couple months.

The RPM auxiliary fuel tank is installed, not too bad of an install but time consuming.
6.8 extra gallons of fuel onboard now without needing to mess with the rotopax

Evolution Powersports. Charge Tubes, Boost Recirculation Valve (BRV) and Boost Hose installed, still need to install the EVP Catch Can then I can button it back up and install the Elektric Baja Box but that will have to be in the evenings this week as we have KRX clutches to work on all week..

A couple more additions to the H2 today..

The Evolution Powersports catch can and CAT delete / bypass pipe, I really wish the EVP muffler would work with this but we’ll see, it definitely has a deeper tone and a little bit louder but we’ll see how it sounds on the trail..

I had already installed the EVP Boost Recirculation Valve, Supercharger Charge Tubes, and Boost Recirculation Hose.

Next addition is the Elektric Offroad Baja Box.

That is quite the build Steve!! If I ever get ready to drop coin on the clutch I'll hit you up first. I'm blown away at your video of the low speed engagement on the KWI system. I'm pretty sure Steve Austin was running that same system in his H2 during the Prospector 250 for the win.

Hard pill to swallow as far as cost but man oh man what an upgrade!!
