We have been running and testing the KWI Primary and Secondary setup for a while now and it’s working great!
We have it setup for 15% gear reduction and are still able to hit 100 mph.
It’s now finally available to everyone.
 
Does it really matter if you can hit 100 mph? I've never really seen a sxs in any real world conditions running 100 mph. You basically have to be on a drag strip, asphalt, or long stretch of flat dirt or gravel. I've run mine up to about 95 mph on asphalt with stock clutch. I really can't see that being done safely on most other non prepped surfaces.

I've ridden a Kawasaki ZX14 up to about 165-170 mph. It'll do 186 mph out of the box. It was super smooth and very aerodynamic, but you're in a diffrrent dimension when you get past 140 mph.

I agree with @AXE. It might be nice to say your car does 100 but what's the practical application for non-racers? IMO doing 90-100 in these down some paved or dirt road is asking for trouble. I prefer reliability, low belt temps and solid engagement over top speed and that's how I have mine set up.

And that's how mine is set up, I have 15% reduction, low engagement right off idle, I'm tuning the clutching for slow crawling BUT.... if I didn't show that the machine would still run 100 mph, 20 people would get on the forums and say it has to lose top end

You guys must never hit a dry lake bed riding out in the desert. That is when you can hit 100mph.

Going 85+ is plenty, but it is nice to know you can hit 100 if you wanted too.

You could do 130 mph in your truck.

Divide your miles by your hours, I'll bet your average speed is under 20 mph. Probably under 15 mph.

I looked at mine today and I'm just under 12 mph average in approximately 1000 miles. That's about the same as my previous rigs. That's some higher speed dunes, desert roads and some highway. But it's also a lot of casual dune riding, desert trails, and taking my dog for a ride in the neighborhood.

You can go fast, but mostly your not going fast at all in these rigs.

I will say, I've idled a lot in my driveway trying to get the infotainment system to update and get the battery to charge. I've had a cpuple fail due to low battery. The last one was a huge map file and it idled about 30 minutes as the battery was low.

Just recently, I pulled the infotainment system and charged with a USB cord to 100%. It's already lost 30% in 3 days. Seems like a dumb way operate the system. System should be 99% powered down after 15 minutes of key turn, but it seems to stay active perpetually.

Kawasaki has a dual battery setup that is pretty slick. It also would not be too hard to DIY it. You could get an automatic disconnect such as blue sea or other reputable brand of your choice.

Here is how I did it on my old truck: disregard the solar charge controller. The Blue Sea automatic disconnect with a switch with auto or manual disconnect features. Model ML-ACR. Mount the switch on the dash and you can manually disconnect battery or let the auto function do it's job.

Is anybody else (even bots) aware that the infotainment system runs on a separate self contained battery independent of the starting battery? Do people know that the infotainment system only charges when the vehicle is running or pulled from the head and charged separately? Do people know the infotainment system runs constantly and will end up dead after sitting several days or short tripping the rig?

Well, I am. I ran a Tread in my X3 and use it in the MH as well. I always make sure they’re fully charged before a trip. Even synch’d the two so I have all the X3 tracks on the Kawi version.

One of the advantages of being an old dude is I have a boatload of 2 track tracks the last 5 years I can download. Once I get this rig I'll pull off the head and download all my good GPX files. For those of you brave enough you can easily convert KML files from Google Earth into GPX and overlay them to Base Camp.

Because you have to cut the cover to accommodate the KWI Secondary how water tight is that after you put that cap on? We have a lot of creek crossings that would put the CVT under water at times. I suppose one could always seal that cap from the inside if needed. I'm am debating if purchasing the primary alone is the better option and not messing with the cover.
